LAN Switches
Networking Topics > Layer 2 Switching > LAN Switches
LAN switches, just like the bridge and router, allow you to segment your network and break up collision domains. However modern switches allow each port of the switch to effectively be in it's own segment eliminating collision domains completely. This technology is called microsegmentation and is accomplished by using dedicated, point-to-point, packet switched virtual circuits between the ports of the switch.
