Repeaters
Networking Topics > Layer 1 Physical > Repeaters
Repeaters are used in networks to extend the reach of networking media. Due to signal attenuation, data travelling through cables over distance loses clarity and strength, this can cause major problems.
Repeaters regenerate and retime network signals allowing them to travel further.
Repeaters are considered layer 1 devices because they only look at the data passing through them at bit level. Repeaters have one input and one output.
